The latest Cline update adds major improvements for AI development workflows. I’ve been testing the new features, and here’s what stands out.
First up is the MCP Marketplace – a central hub right in the extension where you can find and install verified MCP servers. This solves a big pain point of hunting down reliable servers. The Cline team updates it regularly with new options.
Mermaid diagram support in Plan mode is another great addition. You can now create and view flowcharts, maps, sequence diagrams and more directly in chat. Click any diagram to expand it for a better view. This makes it much easier to map out complex processes and workflows visually.
Two new mentions were added – @git for referencing working changes or specific commits, and @terminal to pull in the active terminal contents. These are handy for providing more context when discussing code changes.
The checkpoints interface got an overhaul to make it clearer when checkpoints are created. You’ll also get notifications when hitting Approve or switching between Plan and Act modes now.
On the technical side, there are some useful advanced settings. You can disable the browser tool if you don’t need it, and there’s better support for AWS Bedrock profiles. You can also set custom model configs for OpenAI-compatible models – tweaking things like context window, max output, and pricing.

Overall, this update makes Cline much more capable for AI development workflows. The MCP Marketplace and mermaid diagrams are particularly strong additions that will speed up common tasks.
