Anthropic launched Claude Design on April 17, 2026. The tool lets users create prototypes, slides, one-pagers and branded assets through natural language conversation with Claude.
Describe what you need and Claude produces an initial version. Refinement occurs through conversation, inline comments, direct edits or custom sliders created by the model. Exports go to Canva, PDF, PPTX or directly to Claude Code for implementation.
Claude reads a team’s codebase and design files during onboarding to build and apply their design system automatically. Colors, typography and components stay consistent across projects. Additional inputs include document uploads, images, codebases or web captures to match real products.
Opus 4.7 Vision Improvements
The product runs on Claude Opus 4.7 with upgraded vision that handles images up to 2576 pixels on the long edge, roughly 3.75 megapixels. This is over three times the resolution of previous Claude models and improves accuracy on screenshots, diagrams and layouts. The model also checks its own outputs for formatting consistency.
Who Benefits and How It Fits
Product managers can generate wireframes and flows. Founders build pitch decks. Marketers create collateral. It accelerates the early stage where concepts turn into shareable visuals for discussion and feedback. Engineering teams gain from the design system feature and context-preserving handoff to Claude Code.
The tool is positioned to complement rather than replace platforms like Canva or established design software. It is available now in research preview for Pro, Max, Team and Enterprise plans at claude.ai/design.
The combination of conversational refinement, automatic brand enforcement and higher-resolution vision creates a tighter loop from idea to visual output and code. Early users should test it against their specific files and workflows to measure fit.
